Possible Tax Credit Closing Extension

Monday, June 14th, 2010

There is a bill right now that might be passed, extending the tax credit closing until October 1st 2010. This would give more people a chance to close on their property so they could claim their $8,000 or $6,000 tax credit.  The transactions that need a little more time are mostly short sales and foreclosures - anything that the bank is involved in. I’ll keep you posted!

Buy vs. Rent: Minneapolis, Minnesota Named One of the Best Cities to Buy

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

Exterior House Photo

According to Research done by Bloomberg Newsweek, Minneapolis is the number 1 city to buy, when you look at the cost of renting vs. owning a home. The median price has dropped in the last few years to a more affordable level, where it might make more sense for you to buy a home. Although buying a home vs. renting a home has different benefits for different people.

Cities that I specialize in are Eden Prairie, Chanhassen, Chaska, Bloomington, Victoria, St. Louis Park and the entire western metro.

Interest Rates

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

Since the $8,000 tax credit has expired interest rates have fallen. In May you could get a 30 year fixed mortgage for under 5%…..which is a huge savings in the long run. It will be interesting to see if rates continue to decline or hold steady in the high 4’s and low 5’s for the summer. If you are thinking about purchasing a homes please give me a call and I’ll give you the names of a few great loan officers to talk to.

Eden Prairie Real Estate after the Tax Credit

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

My Eden Prairie real estate office meeting was busy with new listings, buyer searches and mortgage updates today. A lot of people feared that the end of the tax credit meant real estate would come to a halt. As you might have already figured, there are a lot less first time buyers out there searching, but we learned today that homes are still selling.

- Mortgage rates are still low, today we heard high 4’s to low 5’s depending on your financial situation.

- Home prices are still historically low

If you are thinking about buying or selling this year, don’t forget to check out my home buyer perks and home seller perks to see if you qualify! Year-to-date 9 of my clients have received a free one year home warranty!
